POD CASTING

Multi-media publishing for the masses.

It is my intention that over the next year, all the lessons for our ICT pupils will be summarised into a short pod cast, which can be accessed by parents and students at the beginning of the week. The podcast will last for approximately 5 minutes, and cover where the lesson fits within the scheme of work and its relationship with previous lessons and future topics to be covered. It also provides an ideal vehicle for other teachers within the school to see what the ICT depoartment is covering and for the faculties to integrate their coverage in a complementarty manner.

The main advantage for parents is that they know what their child is covering and can join them after school in reviewing what they learnt in the lesson, as all the key words and definitions will be broadcasty. There will also be details of additional work to be covered for homework and other extention or revision tasks for the more or less gifted pupils. Finally should the pupils be absent, the work is there on line to be done at home, so progress is only marginally affected. 

As the process develops year on year, the lessons will develop and be modified as the subject materials change and also as a result of constructive feedback from pupils and parents. A forum will be established specifically to assist with that weeks lessons, where students and parents can post questoons and offer solutions. This could be a very exciting area of the VLE development work.
